This yummy pizza can be served at almost any type of party. It's great tailgate party food, but also works well at a baby shower. It would be well-received at a teen's slumber party, or make a lovely lunch along with a salad. It's versatile, and has a very wide appeal because of the simple yet decadent ingredients.
A store-bought pizza crust makes things extra simple in this recipe. Feel free though to use a homemade crust, frozen pizza dough, or refrigerated dough in a tube. A thin crust works best to showcase the rich toppings, but really, that's up to personal preference.
To make this pizza, the first step is to roast the garlic. This is incredibly easy! Roasting gives the garlic a wonderful, mellow, toasty flavor, and it's not overwhelming at all. Roasted garlic can be eaten straight out of the oven on crackers or crusty bread.
Three heads of roasted garlic are needed for this recipe.
Roasted Garlic
Ingredients:
- 1 head of garlic
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
How To:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Peel as much of the papery covering from the garlic head as possible. Trim a thin slice off the top of the garlic hea, exposing the tops of the cloves.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the exposed garlic cloves, and, using your fingers, coat the sides of the bulb as well.
- Place the garlic, cut side down, on a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes to an hour, or until very soft.
- Allow garlic to cool, then separate the cloves.
Now that the garlic is ready, it's time to put together the pizza!
Garlic, Ham, and Brie Pizza Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3 heads roasted garlic
- 1 prepared 12-slice pizza crust
- 12-ounce wheel Brie cheese
- 8-10 slices deli Black Forest ham or proscuitto
- fresh basil leaves, coarsely chopped (optional)
Put it All Together:
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Squeeze the roasted garlic out of each clove into a small bowl. With a fork, mash up the garlic so it's of spreading consistency.
- Spread the garlic onto the pizza crust. Top with slices of ham.
- With a sharp knife, carefully remove the rind from the wheel of Brie. Slice the cheese into thin rounds or strips. Arrange the Brie on top of the ham.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until Brie is melted and bubbly.
- Allow the pizza to stand for about 3 minutes before slicing. Top with chopped basil leaves for a pretty presentation. Serve warm.
